PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Support the Southern Westchester BOCES Mission, Values, and Goals in all instruction, decisions, and actions.Develop and implement a high quality, standards-based music education curriculum, including the integration of technology, which will promote students’ comprehensive understanding and appreciation of music.Provide music education instruction to a wide range of students with disabilities at the middle and high school levels.Develop, design, and implement differentiated lessons to address specific student learning challenges.As requested, collaborate with instructional teams in the preparation of student IEP’s and BIP’s.Work collaboratively with building-level teams to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.Make instructional and program recommendations for growth in the district’s counseling plan.Collaborate with classroom teachers and related-service providers to identify and provide opportunities for students to explore life and career goals.Communicate with parents/guardians on a consistent basis.Collaborate with elective teacher colleagues to develop comprehensive and engaging programming in the arts across programs within the Center for Special Services. QUALIFICATIONS:New York State Music teacher certification.Up-to-Date knowledge and understanding of the New York State Arts Standards, as well as with the Next Generation Learning Standards.Excellent written, speaking, and listening skills.Dual Certification in Students with Disabilities.Experience in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated music lessons.Experience working with Students with Disabilities.Knowledge of options for technology integration in music introduction preferred.Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.Thorough understanding of Students with Disabilities and the continuum of services.The Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services, its officers and employees, does not discriminate against any individuals, including but not limited to students, employees or applicants on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, creed, sex, gender (including gender identity and gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, citizenship status, marital status, partner status, genetic information, predisposing genetic characteristics, weight, military status or service, political affiliation, or domestic violence victim status.
