SWBOCES Lower Hudson Regional Information Center is looking for a candidate with the overall responsibility for protecting the information technology infrastructure for the organization and to develop and deliver security related services to participating K-12 school districts. The candidate will be expected to provide direction and leadership across the organization around security best practices and the implementation of security policies, either in house or in collaboration with a partner. Candidate will also be expected to assist in identifying, implementing, and maintaining additional security related services for the organization and for the K-12 school districts throughout the tri-county region. Responsibilities: Oversees the organization Security Operation Center (SOC). Proactively monitors organization wide network traffic and infrastructure to identify suspicious activity and notifies the associated teams of any possible issues.Investigates and coordinates incidences of cybersecurity events and works with the associated teams to implement corrective action.Receives and assesses security related releases from varied security forums and assesses the risk and possible impact to the organization and services.Develops and coordinates the implementation of security policies, standards, and countermeasures to safeguard electronically maintained information and systems to enhance the overall security of the organization. Establishes and maintains baseline configurations for new and existing implementations.Works with data privacy service to assist with the assessment of the NIST CSF and advancement of the organization’s maturity level related to this framework. May also assist and\or conduct the delivery of professional development and awareness training.Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of disaster recovery and incident response plans to assure continuity of business and effective response in the event of system unavailability.Project management of project and security related initiatives within the organization and\or with participating districts.Will be responsible for needs identification and the continued development and implementation of security related services.Management and oversight of technical team focused on Security related initiatives.Communication and marketing of service. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Comprehensive knowledge of the current principle, practices, and procedures of developing and implementing an Information Security Program: thorough knowledge of network protocols, encryption techniques, firewalls, virtual private networks, database structures, wireless communications, and access security techniques; thorough knowledge of the current principles, practices, and procedures of Information Technology; ability to establish effective working relationships with peers and district representatives; proficient verbal and written communication skills. CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of experience where the primary function was installing & maintaining local or wide area networks, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Satisfactory completion of 30 additional college credits maybe substituted on a year for year basis for up to two years of the work experience. There is no substitution for the three (3) years of supervisory experience. Current/active certification as a Certified Network Engineer, e.g. CNE from Novell or a Microsoft Certified Engineer (MCE), or a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) may be substituted for six (6) months of the required technical experience. There is no substitution for the three (3) years of supervisory experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York is required.
