PK-6 Assistant Principal/CSE ChairpersonAdministration Class Title: PK-6 Assistant Principal /CSE Chairperson 12-month position 4-year probationary appointmentAvailable : July 1, 2025 Qualifications: • School District Administrator’s Certification or School Building Leader Certification (SBL). NYS Students with Disabilities Certification• Master’s Degree with training or related experience in adjudication of student discipline and special education. Responsibilities:• The Assistant Principal shall be a member of the Administrative Bargaining Unit and shall be appointed in the Assistant Principal tenure area. The Assistant Principal shall work under the supervision of building principals on all disciplinary issues.• The Assistant Principal shall exercise all authority expressly granted by statute, Rule of the Board of Regents, Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, and local policy and regulation.It shall be the duty of the PK-6 Assistant Principal/CSE Chairperson1. To serve as PK-6 Assistant Principal:a. Assist building principals in the adjudication of all disciplinary issues arising on school property, at school sponsored events, on all district transportation, as well as other offenses falling under the scope of NYS DASA legislation and district code of conduct. b. Responsible for oversight of all grades PK-6 extracurricular groups including fundraising, travel, group effectiveness by ensuring that records, files, reports, budgets, etc are properly filed in accordance with statute, regulation or policy;c. Conduct announced and unannounced observations in fulfillment of APPR requirements under Education Law 3012d. Cooperate with building principals to ensure all staff members are evaluated annually. 2. To serve as CSE Chairperson:a. The CSE Chairperson is responsible for the day to day management of CSE/CPSE functions.b. Coordination of all meetings, evaluations and programs of students.c. Assist Parents through ongoing communication and support.d. To ensure the district is following all legal processes and determine appropriate programming for students.e. To coordinate and develop departmental activities related to transitions and programming.f. Develop and facilitate Committee on Special Education eligibility and IEP conferences as representatives in the District.g. Prepare Board of Education recommendations based on CSE/CPSE decision.h. Manage day to day STAC processing.i. Recommend to the building principal when out of district placements, program/procedure changes or program/staffing increases are necessary.j. Communicate with principals/staff regarding recommendations for children.3. Other:a. To collaborate with building principals to oversee, assign personnel to ensure maximize usage of contractual time;b. Assists with the development of board policies related to discipline;c. To fulfill other duties as deemed necessary by the Superintendent of Schools.
