Library Media Specialist (K–8) Location: Springs Union Free School District Position Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Salary: In accordance with the Springs Teachers Association contract Start Date: 9/2/2025Position Overview: Springs UFSD is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Library Media Specialist to serve students in grades K–8. The successful candidate will foster a love of reading, support curriculum goals, and provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction in information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship.Responsibilities Include:Provide direct instruction to students in library and media skillsPlan and implement engaging lessons that align with school curriculum and state standardsManage and maintain the school’s literary collection, including cataloging, ordering, and weeding materialsSupport classroom teachers with literacy resources and integration of media into instructionOversee the organization, operation, and safety of the library spaceTeach and model effective classroom management strategiesQualifications:NYS Certification as a Library Media SpecialistStrong knowledge of children’s and young adult literatureExperience with instructional technology and library management systems preferredExcellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
