ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION (7-12)New York State SDA or SDL certificationDUTIES:Assist in the administration & coordination of District educational programsCollaborate w/ the Assist Superintendent for Elem Ed to ensure the alignment of curriculum K-12Articulate the District’s instructional programs w/other districts & educational agenciesReports on status of programs & svcs at the request of the SuperintendentKeeps abreast of developments in C&I, furnishes leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the District’s educational programAssumes a leadership role in developing curriculum for any course newly mandated by the State education department or the Board of EducationMaintains liaison & active participation w/ educational leaders in C&I at State, regional & national levelsServe as a leader of curriculum studies and workshopsCoordinate curricula matters including innovations, revisions, research, Grades 7-12Assist in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training and assigning of instructional personnelEvaluate and review the performance of instructional chairs, coordinators, administrators, supervisors, and principalsObserve the performance of tchrs, confers & consults w/ them regarding prof developmentSupervise the preparation of Federal /State reports & Grant proposalsCommunicate the approved curriculum to the prof staff & maintain a list of approved instructional materialsRecommends adoption of new instructional materials, methods & programs
