Position Available: Immediately to on or about June 30, 2024TAPPAN ZEE HIGH SCHOOL ACTING ASSISTANT PRINCIPALThe ideal candidate must be a visible, collaborative, problem-solver, with a demonstrated record of supporting all students and staff. The person should be an individual who takes initiative and brings significant experience as a secondary educator. The Acting Assistant Principal supports the Principal in developing and leading a collective vision and mission that supports all students to reach their fullest potential through offering required coursework as well as relevant electives, enrichments, and extra-curricular opportunities. The Acting Assistant Principal will assist the High School Principal in supervising the school in a manner that it may operate smoothly and effectively. Responsibilities include supporting the Principal in leading observations and evaluations of staff, further enhancing students’ social and emotional learning, and ensuring the health and safety of all students. Responsibilities also include and are not limited to: Building and nurturing positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community organizations. Overseeing disciplinary procedures in alignment with the district and school Code of Conduct. Providing ongoing support for Tappan Zee High School’s athletics, clubs and enrichment offerings. Coordinating and supervising the high school’s testing program and NYS Assessments. Serving as a member of the school’s Student Study Team (SST). Leading staff through meaningful professional development opportunities. Planning, coordinating, and supervising assemblies as well as special programs. Any other responsibilities as assigned by the High School Principal.Applicants must possess (or be eligible for) valid NYS certification as a School Administrator/Supervisor and/or as a School Building Leader.
