Date: March 23, 2026 Posting #: CP2096 ANNOUNCEMENT OF A VACANCY: SPECIAL EDUCATION (SCIENCE) TEACHER - PROBATIONARY H.S. The Smithtown Central School District is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team in providing high quality Special Education/Science instruction at the secondary level. The successful candidate will be responsible for case management of an assigned roster of students. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: completing academic evaluations with report findings for Re-Evaluation reviews, IEP Progress Reporting Data collection to show student progress towards IEP goals, IEP Development for Annual Review process and implementation of testing accommodations for students with disabilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: New York State certification in Special Education 7-12. Applicants must be appropriately certified prior to the start of employment. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Additional content area certification in Biology or Earth Science preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to plan, address and implement lessons that support the needs of students with disabilities. Prior experience working in a classroom setting with secondary students preferred. Ability to maintain continual correspondence with parents to address concerns for their students. Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technology. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others. Bilingual communication skills preferred.
