The successful candidate will provide direct classroom instruction in academic intervention support classes for US History & Government and Global History & Geography. Job requirements will include, but are not limited to:Provide direct academic intervention services to small groups of students who need additional support in US History & Government and Global History & Geography.Utilize data-driven instruction methods to assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.Implement evidence based Academic Intervention Services (AIS) models to support struggling learners.Deliver effective small group instruction tailored to individual student needs and learning styles.Prepare students for New York State Regents examination in social studies content areas.Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure continuity of instruction.Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention outcomes.Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings.Assist the building instructional specialist with departmental responsibilities to enhance the social studies program.Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the department director, building principal, or their designee. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:NYS Certification in Social Studies 7-12.Applicants must be appropriately certified prior to the start of employment.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Strong understanding of Academic Intervention (AIS) models and implementation strategies.Demonstrated expertise in small group instructional methodologies.Comprehensive knowledge of the US History & Government and Global History & Geography curriculum frameworks and Regents examination formats.Ability to analyze and interpret student data to inform instructional decisions.Commitment to supporting diverse learners and promoting student success.Previous classroom experience preferred.Curriculum development experience for support and enrichment services.Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technologyDemonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Bilingual communication skills.APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO HOLD A CURRENT TEACHING CERTIFICATION The location of the above noted vacancy is subject to change based on the needs of the district.SALARY RANGE: $40,596 - $61,426 annuallyLOCATION: High School WestEFFECTIVE: 8/27/2025APPLY BY: 7/10/2025Applications for the above position are to be made by submitting a cover letter including the posting number, two professional references and a resume on OLAS: APPLY HERE- Employment Jobs in NYS (OLAS) addressed to: Neil D.
