The School District Treasurer/Assistant School Business Administrator is responsible for maintaining official financial records of the school district and overseeing finance department personnel; reports to and interacts daily with the Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations. The treasurer's component of the position shall be performed according to guidelines established by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller, NYS Education Department, and the Board of Education policies.The preferred candidate shall be provided opportunities to engage in the budget development process, in the planning, allocation, accountability, reporting, and evaluation of budget activities. Job ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership to coordinate efforts regarding financial services across the districtPerform budgeting and accounting functions, and maintain records for all financial transactions, including Extraclassroom funds Prepare monthly treasurer reports, cash flow summary, and fund balance projectionsProcess all bank wires and transfers and prepare/oversee monthly bank reconciliationsMaintain records for all long term debt Assist with the District's auditing processes including external audit, internal audit, and weekly claims audits Systems manager for all users for financial accounting softwareProvide supervision and training for non financial staff reporting financial information to the central officeAssist in negotiations analysis and implementing bargaining unit contract language Preparation of the annual financial statements and state reporting Assist with year-end accounting functions to close the books, including but not limited to accruals, rollovers, receivables, and payables Provide direction and support for the business office operationsOther business office functions and special projects Job QualificationsSchool district accounting and supervisory experience of three years or more are preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or related field) preferredSchool Business Administrator or CPA certification preferredAbility to learn the districts' financial accounting system (WinCap) demonstrated throughexcellent computer skills, ability to develop relevant ad hoc reports, maintaining financialaccounts and records.
