K-12 ENL Instructional CoachTeacher on Special Assignment1.0 FTE Probationary Position Qualifications Required:NYS K-12 TESOL OR other valid NYS teaching certification AND supplementary certification in TESOL Compensation & BenefitsSTA Collective Bargaining Agreement Preferred Experience: Experience in teaching English language learners (ELLs) and a strong background in educational leadership. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of effective instructional strategies for language acquisition, along with experience in curriculum development tailored to diverse student needs. Previous success in coaching or mentoring teachers is preferred, demonstrating the ability to foster professional growth and collaborative relationships. Additionally, the candidate should have a proven track record of promoting inclusive practices and a commitment to equity in education. Strong communication skills, cultural competence, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment are key attributes for this role. General Responsibilities: The ENL Instructional Coach will work under the supervision of the Director of Professional Learning, and in conjunction with the Academic Administrator for World Languages and ENL K-12. The coach will provide direct assistance to teachers in developing effective strategies to improve the language skills and academic success of ELLs in the classroom. Over the course of the school year, the instructional coach may:support teachers and administrators in planning, delivering and assessing quality instruction for ELLsplan, model and co-teach effective lessons with teachersregularly visit classrooms to provide feedback to teachers to improve instructional planning, delivery, assessment and support for successful language acquisitionanalyze assessment data to identify areas for improvement, establish goals, and monitor progressprovide support in the development, implementation, and revisions or the ENL curriculumdevelop and conduct professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators regarding instructional strategies and best practices for ELLsparticipates in content area PLCs and the sharing of effective lessons to ensure the successful implementation of language and content integrationparticipates in ongoing professional learning to enhance job performance on subjects such as language acquisition, literacy development, coaching skills and adult learning theoryassist in ENL program presentations, professional learning sessions, and trainings, as neededassist with the selection of instructional resources and technology for the ENL programall other duties as assigned Location:Districtwide Application Deadline – June 1, 2024 Anticipated Start Date – September 1, 2024Please reach out to Sarah Cioffi, Vicki Wyld, Dr. Cecily-Wilson Turner or your building principal with further inquiries about this position.
