The District Attendance Officer is responsible for compliance with the compulsory school attendance laws of the State of New York. This position also conducts residency verification investigations within the District when required. This is a twelve-month probationary position reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services. The position begins on July 1, 2025.Candidates should possess the following:Ability to be directed and self-motivated Reliable transportationAbility to build relationships at all levels of organizationDuties will include:Monitors attendance within the District schoolsNotifies parents and/or guardians when learning of a continued non-attendance or truancy of a student within the District schoolsConducts residency verification and investigations within the District (includes nights and weekends when required). Collaboration on residency matters with elementary component districts and schools.Files Educational Neglect and Person In Need of Supervision (PINS) petitions in Family CourtWorks with administrators and staff in developing and implementing the District Attendance PolicyActs as a resource for teachers, administrators, and parents of the community in addressing attendance issuesAssists District Homeless Liaison as neededWorks with School Registrars on residency and registration issuesSupervises Attendance Teaching Assistants within each schoolRelated duties as assignedAppropriate New York State School Attendance certification required.Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume on OLAS by May 16, 2025.
