The Special Education Teacher assumes primary responsibility for the planning and implementation of the academic program and behavioral management of individual students.develops and implements i.e.p. goals and objectivesdevelops curriculum and instructional materials for individual and group activities.collaborates with support staff and clinical team members for child study and monitoring of academic and behavioral progressprovides ongoing informal assessment and evaluation of student progress, as well as formalized yearly evaluations through achievement and state-mandated testing.writes educational evaluations and reports for students’ annual reviews.actively participates at district level c.s.e. meetings for individual students.participates in in-service training, faculty meetings, team meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and school events.provides direct supervision of teacher’s assistants and aidesEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSNew York State special education CertificationMinimum Bachelors Degree in Special EducationExperience with special education population
