The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) has an for a Teaching Assistants working with special education students at the Scotia-Glenville Middle SchoolJob responsibilities and expectations include the following:The ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and families.Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support the delivery of instruction to students.Constantly monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.Follow all district policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with de-escalation techniques with students as needed.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher and/or principalMinimum Qualifications: NYS Teaching Assistant Level 1 Certification or higher Interested candidates can apply on OLAS and direct questions to Anthony Peconie, Instructional Administrator for Special Education, by phone (518) 347-3600 x7412 or via email to apeconie@sgcsd.net.
