The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) has multiple openings for Teacher Aides working with special education students throughout the following school buildings: Glen Worden Elementary School, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.Lincoln Elementary School, 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Sacandaga Elementary School, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.* Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalentJob responsibilities and expectations include the following:The ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and families.Constantly monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.Follow all district policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, playground, classroom, transportation, assemblies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.Collaborate with teachers and other staff to incorporate information provided by parents, doctors, nurses, therapists and others in order to understand the needs of and provide services for students.Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with de-escalation techniques with students as needed.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher and/or principalInterested candidates can apply on OLAS and direct questions to Anthony Peconie, Instructional Administrator for Special Education, by phone (518) 347-3600 x7412 or via email to apeconie@sgcsd.net.
