The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) has two openings for a Teaching Assistant at the middle school. There is an opening in the 8:1:2 developmental skills program and the 15:1:1 self-contained program.Start Date: September 16, 2024 Job Type: Full Time (10-month position)Salary: per contract (Level 1 starts at $18.85/hr)Minimum Qualifications: NYS Teaching Assistant Level 1 Certification or higherJob responsibilities and expectations include the following: The ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and families. Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support the delivery of instruction to students. Constantly monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers. Follow all district policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students. Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with de-escalation techniques with students as needed.
