The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) is accepting applications for a probationary special education teacher position at Glen-Worden Elementary School. The position is for an 8:1:2 developmental skills classroom for students in grades 3 through 5. Students recommended for this program have a developmental diagnosis (usually Autism) and significant deficits in cognitive, adaptive, academic, and speech language skills. Minimum Qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification in Special Education either Students with Disabilities 1-6 Generalist, Students with Disabilities K-12, or All Grades certification.Job responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to the following:Contribute to and plan lessons that align with the state standards and designated curriculum framework while significantly modifying the curriculum to each student's individual needs.Collaborate with colleagues to ensure students are being exposed to academic rigor.Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, parents, and community providers to understand and meet the needs of students.Analyze multiple data sets in inform instruction and decisions regarding educational programming.Progress monitor IEP goals by providing differentiated instruction, delivering interventions with fidelity, collecting and analyzing data, and monitoring students' response to the interventions.Manage student behavior through de-escalation strategies and positive behavioral supports.Follow all district policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.Interested candidates can apply on OLAS and direct questions to Catie Magil, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, by phone (518) 347-3600 x 74102 or via email to cmagil@sgcsd.net.
