The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) has an opening and is now accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Teacher Assistant probationary position working in a high school life skills classroom. Minimum Qualifications: NYS Teaching Assistant Level 1 Certification or higher.Job responsibilities and expectations include the following: - The ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and families.- Work under the direction of a classroom teacher to support the delivery of instruction to students.- Support select students with toileting (no diapering) and self-care needs.-Constantly monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.-Follow all district policies and procedures, along wit state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.- Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to incorporate information provided by parents, doctors, nurses, therapists and others in order to understand the needs of and provide services for students.- Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with de-escalation techniques with students as needed.- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher and/or principal.Apply on OLAS
