All Positions: All jobs posted below are part of the Schenectady Summer Theatre Camp. The camp will run on weekdays from July 10th-August 4th from 2:30-5:30pm, as part of the Extended Day Program. Staff will be expected to report to Schenectady High School at 2:00pm and stay until 6:00pm. Staff will teach acting, singing, dancing, and stagecraft skills. The camp will culminate in a performance of the short musical Bugz, by John Jacobson & John Higgins. Staff should expect to work for extended hours the day of the performance, August 4th.Site Leader & Program DirectorResponsibilities:-Creates and coordinates camp schedule-Selects, directs, and designs the camp musical-Obtains materials necessary for production-Designs and leads acting curriculum-Teaches acting techniques-Designs and leads stagecraft curriculum-Teaches stagecraft techniques-Coordinates technical elements of the production-Ensures the success of the camp, overall-Theatre Certification Required.Music DirectorThe Music Director's main job is to teach the music for the culminating musical, Bugz. The Music Director should expect to:-Collaborate with the Program Director and Dance Director on creating and executing the camp schedule.-Teach music and vocal technique to young singers at a beginner level.-Lead vocal warm-up exercises.-Assign solos.-Possibly accompany students during rehearsals on piano, if able.-Music Certification Preferred.Dance DirectorThe Dance Director's main job is to choreograph and teach the dances for the culminating musical, Bugz. The Dance Director should expect to:-Collaborate with the Program Director and Music Director on creating and executing the camp schedule.-Create choreography that challenges elementary students, but that they can execute well by the performance.-Teach choreography and dance technique to young dancers at a beginner level.-Lead physical warm-up exercises.-Dance Certification Preferred.Drama/Stagecraft AssistantThe Drama/Stagecraft Assistant's main job is to work with the Program Director to create and execute drama and stagecraft activities during camp. The Drama/Stagecraft Assistant should expect to:-Assist in casting and staging the culminating musical, Bugz.-Assist in designing set and costume pieces for the show.-Create and execute stagecraft activities for elementary students.-Lead theatre games and ensemble activities.-Theatre Experience Preferred: set & costume designMusic AssistantThe Music Assistant's main job is to work with the Music Director to teach the music for the culminating musical, Bugz. The Music Assistant should expect to:-Learn the music for the show prior to the start of camp.-Model good vocal technique.-Help assign and teach solos.-Lead vocal warm-up exercises.-Lead theatre games and ensemble activities.-Assist in arts and craft activities.-Music Experience Preferred: vocal techniques & coachingDance AssistantThe Dance Assistant's main job is to work with the Dance Director to choreograph and teach the dances for the culminating musical, Bugz. The Dance Assistant should expect to:-Learn the dances for the show prior to the start of camp.-Choreograph small numbers where needed.-Model good dance technique.-Help create stage pictures and formations for the show.-Lead physical warm-up exercises.-Lead theatre games and ensemble activities.-Assist in arts and craft activities.-Dance Experience Preferred: demonstrate & instruct choreographyFloating Assistants (2-3 needed)The Floating Assistants' main job is to support the directors and assistants by keeping camp running as smooth as possible. Floating Assistants should expect to:-Supervise campers during arrival and dismissal.-Escort campers to the bathroom, drinking fountain, and nurse.-Handle basic first aid (band-aids, ice packs, etc.)-Participate in drama, music, dance, and stagecraft activities with campers, modeling good behavior and positive social interactions.-Take on small administrative tasks, as designated by the directors.
