Job DescriptionResponsible for assisting the Director of Special Education with the provision of Special Education Services in the elementary settings. This includes working directly with School Psychologists, Special Ed teachers, Building Principals, and other related service providers to develop Individualized Education Plans, FBA/BIP’s, and ensure program service delivery occurs within the districts vision and in compliance with laws and regulations. Reports directly to the Director of Special Education.DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:o Provides direct support & supervision, in collaboration with buildingprincipals, to Special Education teachers and related serviceproviderso Promotes involvement and understanding of Special Educationprogramming for the purpose of meeting the ongoing needs ofstudents and familieso Works collaboratively with the Office of Student Support Services tohire, evaluate and coordinate schedules for Special Educationteachers, paraprofessionals, and related services staffo Monitors district-wide and school site-based Spec. Education andsupport program projectso Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of the NYS Dept. ofEducation and Office of Student Support Serviceso Coordinates testing for students, especially those who requirespecial accommodationso Chair CSE meetings & assist with IEP developmento Instructional leadership, conducts walk throughs and support specialeducation teachers in their developmento Connect teachers and staff to relevant district support and serviceso Arrange and lead professional development, in conjunction with thebuilding principal, Office of Student Support Services, and Office ofTeaching & Learningo Assist with the development of summer ESY programso Ensure Work Based Learning hours are documented appropriatelyo Review records for incoming students and work with SpecialEducation on Placement of transferso Maintain Case manager assignment listo Work with Special Education Office on any new referrals to specialeducation or on any outside provider referrals neededo Attend School Based Support Team Meetingso Assist Special Education Office on annual special educationprojectionso Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special EducationJob Qualifications Master’s degree in special education or other related services area Current certification in School District Leadership (SDL) Minimum of five years of classroom teaching or direct related service experience within K – 12 settingExperience in urban education preferredPrevious leadership experience preferred
