The Scarsdale Public Schools are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented individual who exhibits a love of learning and a genuine interest in the social, emotional, mental, and physical health of student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching student-athletes in the sport of lacrosse with demonstrated success in player development. The ability to design experiences for players to interpret the game and to respond effectively is essential. A successful candidate will lead and collaborate with other coaches within the program. Working knowledge of an educational interscholastic program is preferred. NYS certification in physical education or a coaching license is required. Scarsdale School District is an equal opportunity employer, and candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.QUALIFICATIONS: Prior coaching or competitive playing experience in lacrosse preferred.Strong knowledge of lacrosse fundamentals, systems, and safe training methods.Ability to teach, motivate, and build positive relationships with student-athletes.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.CPR/First Aid certification and any required coaching certifications (or willingness to obtain).REPORTS TO:The Varsity Head Coach and the Athletic Director.JOB GOAL:To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the head coach in planning and conducting efficient, high-quality practices that develop individual and team skills.Provide focused instruction on position-specific skills, fundamentals, and advanced lacrosse concepts.Assist in game preparation, strategy discussions, and film review.Offer constructive feedback to athletes, reinforcing a positive, growth-oriented team culture.Help supervise and manage athletes before, during, and after practices, games, team events, and travel.Maintain consistent communication with the head coach regarding player progress, team needs, and program goals.Model integrity, sportsmanship, and professionalism at all times.Support the enforcement of team rules, academic expectations, and athletic department policies.Help maintain equipment, gear, and field setup as needed.Collaborate with JV coaches to support program continuity and athlete transitions between levels.Ensure athlete safety by recognizing and responding to injuries and communicating with the athletic trainer.
