Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School (SANY) is excited to announce the openings of a Curriculum Coordinator positions for 1st grade and 2nd grade for the 22/23 school year. We are looking for dynamic, collaborative, flexible, and engaging educators. We encourage experienced 1st grade and 2nd grade teachers to apply! New York State Certification required. Job Goals: 1st grade and 2nd grade Curriculum Coordinators are responsible for providing district-wide instructional leadership and coaching across subject areas in their respective grade levels. Position responsibilities include studying, evaluating, and implementing research-based district-wide curriculum and instruction; providing leadership in the development, articulation, and implementation of an educational program, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention; improving the academic program by assisting with program evaluation; and assisting in the coordination of relevant staff development. Expectations: Demonstrates instructional leadership by:1. Curriculum and Instruction a. Serving as a resource person in curriculum and instruction across subject areas. b. Providing leadership to assure correlation between district curriculum and state standards. c. Developing, coordinating, and monitoring the program of instruction for academic programs and overseeing updates of the curriculum. d. Previewing new instructional materials and arranging for piloting by teachers. e. Assisting teaching staff with the implementation of curriculum and instructional materials. f. Developing and implementing follow-up plans for curriculum revisions and instructional materials adoptions. g. Assisting in the selection of instructional materials for K-2. h. Studying and evaluating new instructional techniques for possible use by classroom teachers. i. Model teaching new concepts, strategies and content as needed. j. Engaging with building leadership and stakeholders to implement best practices and data driven interventions 2. Assessment and Intervention a. Assisting in the evaluation of academic programs, grading and assessment, and their effect on student achievement. b. Participating in PLC meetings to analyze student data with teachers. c. Assisting to develop and implement intervention programs. 3. Staff Development a. Leading and coordinating staff development programs. b. Planning, organizing, and conducting training, conferences, and workshops. c. Mentoring or coaching teachers in skill improvement. 4. Other a. Staying current in their field through professional readings, seminars, workshops, and conventions. b. Coordinating projects with other curriculum coordinators, program support staff, and administrators. c. Working with deans to develop and implement the school improvement plans for their respective grade levels (data analysis, goal setting, action plans, etc). d. Assisting with coordination of instructional support for new teachers. e. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred. NYS certification required. Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus. Prior teaching experience in 1st grade and 2nd grade preferred.
