Position: Special Education Lead Teachers 2025 - 2026 - Internal Candidates only Rate of Pay: Salary per STA contract Qualifications: NYS Special Education CertificationEssential Functions:Liaison to Special Education Office and attends all lead teacher meetingsProvides for continuing improvement of instruction through professional development, cooperation with building administrators.Gives input for and facilitates professional development days.Represents building on appropriate curriculum cabinet and/or committee meetings.Provides on-site support to teachers implementing district program(s)Onboarding and Support for New Special Education TeachersProvides support and leadership in building CSE, 504, and MTSS processes.Participates in Grand Rounds, Reviews and maintains documentation of building level MTSS Screening RequestsFacilitates and Reviews Complete Referral Packet for CSEKeeps current of developments in the content area and provides staff members with assistance as appropriate.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.Support District Goals.Reviews Program ProjectionsNYS Testing Scheduling AccommodationsInitial CSE Referral Testing as requestedManages department materials (eg. Woodcock Johnson Protocols and Test Kits, Into Reading Supplies)Building level access to IEP Direct to complete and maintain district Summary ChartKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.Extensive knowledge of the content area.Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.Ability to organize and coordinate work.Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents, and to prepare oral or written communications, such as presentations, reports, memoranda, letters, grant proposals, curriculum documents, workshops and evaluations of programs and curriculum.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents, community groups and others contacted in the course of work.
