Position: Summer School Math Teacher for grades 7 & 8 Building: Jr. High School Effective: July 2024 Contract Aligned to: Saugerties Teachers' Association Immediately Responsible to: Jr. High Principal and/or Sr. High Principal Minimum Qualifications:Required: Must possess a valid NYS Secondary Teaching Certificate in Mathematics Philosophical compatibility with the stated mission and goals of the School District Expertise in the field of Mathematics Preferred: Dual Certified Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Summary or Functions: Facilitating student success by developing students' skills and competence in mathematical concepts and principles, including problem-solving and critical thinking. Specific Responsibilities: Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning and supports District Goals. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials in line with the NYS Next Generation Mathematics Standards and the Standards for Mathematical Practice. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level/subject, and participates in faculty meetings, department meetings, and committees.
