Design and implement professional learning opportunities and programming for faculty, staff and administrators. Work collaboratively to lead and nurture the staff and communicate effectively with teachers, staff, parents, community members, and colleagues in other districts and schools. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for planning, coordinating and monitoring services, curriculum development, program evaluation and professional development.SPECIFIC DUTIESCurriculumProvide leadership and coordination for the development of curriculumProvide leadership to the evaluation of all instructional programsProvide knowledge and expertise in curriculum development, instruction, and evaluationChair the Rye City School District Curriculum CouncilInstructionProvide leadership to the District’s comprehensive program of professional developmentChair the Professional Development Committee and the Professional Learning TeamApprove and coordinate all professional development projects, curriculum development projects, and summer curriculum projectsEvaluationProvide leadership to the evaluation of all educational programsCoordinate the District and New York State testing programsPresent the Rye City School District Annual School Report CardRespond to requests for research to be conducted within the Rye City School DistrictOtherServe as liaison to BOCES Instructional Services Division, coordinating the Rye City School District’s participation in those programsServe as liaison to the New York State Education Department in areas of curriculum and instructionMaintain an awareness of current educational trends and determine which may be important to consider in the Rye City School DistrictSupervisionAssist the school principals in the supervision of tenured professional staff Assist the school principals in the supervision of probationary teachersSupervise District Instructional Coaches, Director of Special Education and Director of TechnologyOversee the Department CoordinatorsIn collaboration with the ENL Coordinator and building administrators, coordinate the District ENL programIn collaboration with the Director of PPS and Special Education, and building leaders and their RtI teams, coordinate the District AIS/RtI/MTSS ProgramBudgetPrepare and administer the curriculum, instruction, and evaluation fund budgetDevelop and coordinate the ESSA and Consolidated ApplicationWith Superintendent and Other AdministratorsCollaborate with the administrators regarding the New York State Learning Standards, New York State Assessment Designs, the use of multiple data to inform instruction, curriculum alignment, and curriculum revisionsMeet and communicate with administrators regarding articulation and transition issuesCommunicate with the Superintendent regularly about the needs, successes, and general operation of the Rye City School DistrictIn coordination with the Director and Supervisors of Special Education and the building administrators coordinate the District’s RtI plan and process.Facilitate Administrative Cabinet Meetings and serve, as appropriate, on district committeesPerform any duties that are within the scope of employment as assigned by the SuperintendentSeek governmental or private funds available to school systems to finance innovative or exemplary programsOversee all Rye City School District grant programsProfessional LearningCoordinate professional learning programs, courses and parent universities.
