Applicants should possess a strong background in school counseling and have experience working with high school students, teachers, and parents. Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in school counseling or related field and NY State certification as a school counselor. Rye City School District offers: A highly competitive salary for Westchester County, ranging from $79,180 (MA Step 1) to $161,463 (PhD Step 30). Position: School Counselor Certification : NY State School Counselor Reports to : K-12 Director of School Counseling Terms : 10 months, salary and benefits based on the Rye Teachers Association collective bargaining agreement. Candidates should have knowledge and experience assisting elementary students in the following areas: Academic support Career exploration Self-awareness and self-esteem Character development and bullying prevention Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Goal setting and decision-making Multi-tier System of Supports (MTSS) Classroom instruction for “Managing your Future” College/Career Counseling in a high achievement culture Additional requirements include: proven ability to build positive relationships with families, students and staff, collaborate with the district-wide school counseling department, demonstrated background in facilitating individual and small group counseling sessions, exhibit skill in handling crisis situations, and have a deep understanding of the need for specialized interventions and how to make the appropriate referrals when necessary.
