See: The Rye CommitmentPosition Title: Reading Specialist - Rye Middle SchoolEssential Attributes:Proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and partner with students & parents in the learning process.Strength teaching targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources. Experience with Fountas & Pinnell LLI preferred.Thoughtful, reflective practitioner that is culturally responsive in their pedagogical approach with a proven commitment to the principles of equity and inclusion.Demonstrated understanding of authentic assessment, data-driven instruction, and a diagnostic and prescriptive approach to understanding and supporting readers.Experience participating on / leading MTSS teams.Ability to support colleagues across all disciplines in their utilization of text for improved literacy across the curriculum.Experience supporting Teachers College Reading and Writing Project.Experience as an academic intervention teacher for reading preferred.Meet regularly with the classroom teachers to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual student’s needs or as requested by the classroom teacher.Certification: NYS Certification Reading Teacher or Reading Consultant preferred, otherwise Elementary K-6, English Language Arts 7-12, Special Education K-12, or LiteracyThis position includes a highly competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and extensive opportunities for professional learning, continued growth, and mentored support.The Rye City School District is an equal opportunity employer.
