Part-time CHILD DEVELOPMENT Family and Community Engagement LiaisonIMMEDIATE OPENING MAJOR REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Must hold:NYSED Teaching, Teaching Assistant or Administrative Certification RequiredBilingual Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is PreferredSupport/coach/instruct parents of infants/toddlers to support healthy child development and school readinessParticipate in training on healthy growth, development, and school readiness for infants/toddlersWorking with school and district leaders, identify families in Roosevelt who have infants and/or toddlersConduct outreach to families of infants/toddlersConduct outreach to community and social service agencies which provide supports to parents for healthy infant/toddler developmentPlan school and community-based activities to connect families with infants/toddlers to community and social service agenciesPromote the education of parents to support the healthy development and school readiness of their infants/toddlers. Promote the education of parents for healthy nutrition and physical activity for their infants/toddlersPromote the education of parents for the development of school readiness for infants/toddlers—large and small motor activity, development of pre-reading skills, development of pre-math skills, other school readiness skills (recognition of colors, shapes, social interaction with other children, toileting, independence, following multi-step instructions, etc.)Share resources with schools, post on website, and post on school campusModel culturally responsive and respectful practices in all interactions with families, school district personnel, and community and social service agencies. Develop in-person and virtual opportunities tailored to individual school needs, school culture, and school goals for engaging and building families' capacity to support their child's learning (workshops, round table conversations, coffee with the principal, texting campaigns, social media, website, interactive parent boards (onsite and virtual, etc.)Collaborate with teachers to conduct interactive workshops/learning opportunities for families to understand and support their child's learning at home Distribute parent "Tip Sheets.” For example: "What to expect at a doctor’s appointment" or "Important questions to ask"SALARY/STIPEND: $25,000/Ten Months for 17.5 hours per week, outside of the contractual day: before school, after school, weekends, holidaysapply for this POSITION by completing a cover letter, resume and applicationThe Roosevelt UFSD is an equal opportunity employer.
