POSITION: social studies teacher.REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Must be NYSED Certified Social Studies 7-12Planning, preparing and delivering appropriate lessons using a variety of presentation methods to keep students engaged and meet their individual needsCommunicates higher level thinking strategies and problem-solving techniques appropriate for challenging and building skills in learnersCreating and maintaining a positive classroom environment that promotes good behavior and commitment to excellenceManaging pupil behavior in the classroom and on school premises, and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviorBuilding relationships with parents by communicating frequently to inform them of student academic and personal growthAssessing student progress to inform students of growth and to modify instructionMaintaining records of pupils' progress and development with high integrityResearching new topic areas and maintaining up-to-date subject knowledgeSelecting and using a range of various learning resources and equipment to challenge and motivate students to reach their fullest potentialPreparing students for state and district mandated testing.SALARY: Salary commensurate with experiencePursuant to RTA Collective Bargaining Agreement and District Policy apply for this POSITION by completing a cover letter,resume and application.The Roosevelt UFSD is an equal opportunity employer.
