1.Makes repairs to electrical motors, fire alarm systems, lights, power circuits, appliances, generators and a variety of other electrical equipment.2.Troubleshoots, locates and corrects power failures and short circuits.3.Installs open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures.4.Makes emergency repairs to elevators, generators and other electrical apparatus.5.Performs a variety of preventive maintenance on a variety of electrical apparatus, appliances and equipment.6.Makes work time estimates and keeps simple records.7.Performs a variety of non-electrical maintenance and repair tasks as required.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the electrician's trade.2.Knowledge of the New York Board of Fire Underwriters Code and other relevant regulations regarding electrical installation.3.Skill in the care and use of electrician's tools and equipment.4.Ability to install, alter, repair maintain and troubleshoot a variety of electrical apparatus, appliances and equipment.5.Ability to interpret and work from technical sketches and blueprints.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTraining and Experience1.Completion of vocational school trainingandFour years of satisfactory experience in electrician's trade;or2.Six years of satisfactory experience in the electrician's trade. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
