RONDOUT VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher for for grades 9-12 to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality education to students with possible physical, cognitive, and/or emotional disabilities in a secondary school setting. The candidate will work closely with students, parents, and other education professionals to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student. Qualifications: NYS Certification Special Education for Grades 7-12 and Mathematics 7-12NYSed Fingerprint ClearanceExcellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively with a team of education professionalsAdaptability and willingness to learn new teaching methodsCompassionate and patient with students and familiesAble to work with students from different backgrounds and who have varying abilitiesSalary: Per Contract General Responsibilities: Although the specific day-to-day duties of special education teachers can vary based on where they work and their students’ ages, common daily duties include the following:Assess students’ diverse skills and educational needs while utilizing various teaching strategies and techniques to meet those needsAssess student progress and adjusts instruction accordinglyMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance/progress, attendance, and behaviorDeveloping, modifying, and updating IEPsCommunicate regularly with parents, administrators, and other education professionals regarding student progress and needsAttend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-related activitiesWork Schedule: M-F, 7:25am -2:35pm Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor and/or Superintendent.
