The Rome City School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Special Education Resource Teacher to support high school students with diverse learning needs in an education support setting. The ideal candidate will collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to create an inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environment that promotes academic success, independence, and progress toward graduation. Key Responsibilities: Provide targeted academic support and instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and IEP goals for students in grades 10–12. Collaborate with general education teachers to support student success in inclusive classroom settings. Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to reinforce content, build foundational skills, and support credit attainment. Implement accommodations, modifications, and assistive technologies to ensure access to curriculum and assessments. Support students in developing executive functioning, organization, study skills, and self-advocacy. Create a structured and supportive learning environment that promotes engagement, independence, and positive behavior. Monitor and document student progress through data collection, formative assessments, and IEP goal tracking. Maintain ongoing communication with families, case managers, and school personnel to support student achievement. Participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and collaborative planning sessions. Qualifications: Must hold a valid New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12). Experience in high school special education or education support settings preferred. Knowledge of differentiated instruction, IEP implementation, and behavior management techniques. Ability to support and adapt studio-based, project-driven learning for diverse learners.
