The Rome City School District is seeking a reliable and organized In-School Suspension (ISS) Supervisor at Gansevoort Elementary School. The ISS Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a structured, quiet, and productive environment where students can complete assigned academic work while reflecting on behavioral expectations. Duties include supervising students, enforcing school rules, coordinating assignments with teachers, maintaining accurate records and documentation, and communicating with administrators and staff as needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively with students and staff to support a positive school climate. Experience working with school-aged children and strong organizational skills are preferred. This is a 10-month position, working 7 hours per day, with eligibility for benefits including participation in the New York State Employee Retirement System, and accrued sick and personal time. Rate of pay is $29.57 per hour. Position Summary: The In-School Suspension (ISS) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the ISS room, ensuring a structured, respectful, and academically focused environment. The ISS Supervisor supports student accountability while promoting appropriate behavior and academic progress. Key Responsibilities: Supervise the ISS room and maintain a quiet, orderly, and productive study environment conducive to learning. Monitor student behavior and ensure adherence to school rules and ISS expectations. Maintain accurate and organized records, including attendance, assignments, and student behavior documentation. Develop and maintain individual files for each student assigned to ISS, including completed work and disciplinary records. Coordinate with teachers to collect, distribute, and monitor completion of student assignments. Work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student needs and behavioral improvement. Assist with hallway supervision or other supervisory duties as assigned by administration. Prepare and maintain monthly disciplinary reports for the Assistant Principal. Communicate effectively with administration regarding student concerns, progress, and any incidents. Support re-entry of students into the classroom by reinforcing expectations and accountability. Perform other duties as assigned by administration. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma required. Associates Degree with equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Prior experience working with school-aged children or in an educational setting preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations professionally. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
