Substitute Occupational TherapistThe Rome City School District is seeking a licensed Substitute Occupational Therapist to provide continuity of related services for approximately 6 weeks at Bellamy Elementary School. This position supports students with disabilities by delivering mandated occupational therapy services in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).Position Summary:The Substitute Occupational Therapist will be responsible for delivering school-based occupational therapy services to students with disabilities, supporting fine motor development, sensory processing, self-regulation, visual-motor integration, and functional participation in the educational environment. The substitute therapist will assume full service delivery, documentation, and compliance responsibilities during the assignment period.Key Responsibilities:Provide individual and small-group occupational therapy services as mandated in student IEPs.Review, interpret, and implement IEP goals related to occupational therapy services.Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and adjust interventions as appropriate.Maintain accurate, timely documentation of service delivery and student progress in compliance with state and federal regulations.Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, paraprofessionals, speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and administrators to support student access to the curriculum.Provide consultation to classroom staff regarding accommodations, adaptive equipment, sensory strategies, and environmental modifications.Participate in CSE/IEP meetings and provide written progress reports as required.Ensure therapy spaces and materials are safe, organized, and appropriate for student use.Comply with all district policies, NYSED regulations, and confidentiality requirements.Qualifications:Valid New York State License and Registration as an Occupational Therapist.School-based experience is preferred.Knowledge of IDEA regulations and IEP compliance requirements.Strong assessment, documentation, and organizational skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.Commitment to supporting students’ functional independence and access to instruction.
