English Language Arts Teacher The Rome City School District is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated English Language Arts educator to inspire and challenge students across a diverse range of academic needs. We are looking for an individual who can foster strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a love for language and literature in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.For the 2025-2026 school year, this full-time position includes teaching responsibilities in the following areas:SUPA ELA (Syracuse University Project Advance – college-level coursework)ENL ELA (English Language Arts for English Language Learners in grades 9–10)10th Grade Honors ELACredit Recovery ELADistrict ProfileThe Rome City School District is proud to serve over 5,200 students across nine schools, supporting a diverse mix of city, rural, and suburban communities. We are dedicated to creating a collaborative and nurturing environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.Key Responsibilities:Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous, and grade-appropriate ELA lessons aligned with NYS standards.Differentiate instruction to support a diverse student population, including English Language Learners, honors students, and those in credit recovery.Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student voice, cultural responsiveness, and academic growth.Foster critical thinking, reading comprehension, and effective writing through a variety of literary genres, texts, and writing assignments.Integrate college-level expectations for SUPA ELA, encouraging analytical thinking, academic writing, and independent learning.Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.Collaborate with colleagues, ENL specialists, and support staff to ensure students’ academic and language development needs are met.Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and participation; communicate regularly with families and caregivers.Support students’ social and emotional development, encouraging confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love for literature and learning.Qualifications:Must hold valid New York State Teaching Certification in English Language Arts 7-12.SUPA (Syracuse University Project Advance) Certification preferred.Strong classroom management and communication skills.Experience or willingness to teach diverse learners, including ENL students.Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills.Experience with credit recovery programs or alternative education.Why Join Us?A supportive and collaborative teaching environment.Opportunities for professional development and growth.Access to innovative curriculum resources and professional development.Competitive salary and benefits package.Salary starting at $52,389.00.
