The Rome City School District is actively recruiting for a full time 12-month Assistant Food Services Director. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This individual will assist the food services director inthe efficient management of school food services programs, and ensure that all established policies for effective operation of food services are followed with fidelity. This position will also include performing administrative tasks, such as, budget preparation and financial procedures, supervision of staff consisting of cook managers, and food service helpers.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)• Arranges for and assigns food service personnel and substitute food service staff;• Assists with menu planning;• Assist in coordinating the purchase of food supplies, non-food supplies and equipment;• Preparation of bid specifications, purchase orders, and maintaining records, including equipment record inventory and repairs;• Assists in the training, supervising and evaluating school lunch personnel;• Assists with recipes development and nutrient analysis/software;• Serve in the role of the director in their absence;• Keeps track of catering bills and reports;• Assists with the school Calendar and media in general;• Maintains a work order system with School District Motor Vehicle Operators;• Keeps records and reports organized;FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:• Good knowledge of the fundamentals of nutrition and their application to the health of children;• Good knowledge of all phases of a school food service program;• Good knowledge of the principles and practices of large quantity food preparation, menu planning, purchasing, equipment selection and care, sanitary food handling and storage;• Ability to train personnel; ability to keep records and prepare reports;• Ability to maintain good personal relations with others;• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions;• Personal characteristics necessary to perform the duties of the position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHERA.) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with aBachelor's Degree in dietetics, nutrition or food service administration, food service management or a closely related field AND one (1) year of work experience in institution management, hotel administration or restaurant management involving large-quantity food service preparation; ORB.) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree in dietetics, nutrition or food service administration, food service management or a closely related field AND three (3) years of work experience as outlined in (A) above; ORC.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND five (5) years of work experience as outlined in (A) above.
