The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for a probationary Assistant Principal position at the upper elementary level (Grades 4-6). This position includes a regionally competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Valid NYS administrative certification (SAS, SDA, or SBL) is required. Bilingual candidates who are fluent in Spanish are encouraged to apply.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five or more years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level Deep understanding of best practices in elementary education including differentiation of instruction and Response to Intervention Thorough understanding of the NYS Learning Standards and elementary curriculum Capacity to promote a safe and supportive school environment that fosters the social and academic development of students Detailed knowledge of DASA and its impact on student discipline along with the ability to exercise fairness and equity when determining behavioral consequences Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate instructional and support staff Strong management, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to engage and work collaboratively with staff, parents, community members and other stakeholders in support of carrying out the school’s mission Successful experience working with a diverse student population Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
