The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Mental Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. The District has been granted a 5 year mental health grant through the US Department of Education. The District will use the grant funding to offer a multi-tiered approach to K-12 mental health care by providing clinical based programs, professional learning, and telehealth services to promote mental health best practices and build a mental health continuum that supports the needs of every student. The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Position will work in partnership with the Mental Health Coordinator and Director of Special Services and serve as a core member of the Mental Health Planning Team and Advisory Committee for the District’s new grant funded programs. The candidate will support the District’s Focused Intensive Day Treatment Program as well as the Telehealth Family Counseling Center by providing psychiatric and treatment consultation to students and their families. Responsibilities include providing outpatient psychiatric evaluations and treatment plans. The candidate will work in coordination with the student’s clinical team to problem-solve mental health and behavioral concerns.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for providing psychiatric services to students in a variety of clinical and school based settings during scheduled hours. Scope of services includes outpatient psychiatric evaluations, consultation, treatment planning and possibly medication management services Assess, diagnose, and treat adolescents and children experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disordersCollaborate with clinicians and other treatment team members to coordinate care outside of schoolCounsel students and their families during appointments, as necessaryDesign/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventionsProvide ongoing professional development to clinical staff of programs, as neededConsult with District administrators to develop, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of plansPerform general medical care for students as neededQUALIFICATIONS:Advanced degree (Master's or above) from an accredited or approved college or university in Nursing. Graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry or mental healthCurrent New York State Nurse Practitioner specialty certification and registration; Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Practice Practitioner preferredAt least 3 years experience providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages and economic backgrounds in a culturally competent and sensitive manner ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification preferredSKILLS:Experience in delivering high-quality, client-centered care Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality Ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals involved in all aspects of the District’s programsAbility to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team Ability to read, analyze and interpret private reports and school based evaluationsAbility to write routine reports, conduct psychiatric evaluations, suicide assessments and correspondence with parents and agenciesAbility to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations including CSEs and meetings with the families Candidates with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.Apply on OLAS
