Mill Road Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, skilled, and passionate Elementary School Teacher to join our PreKindergarten through fifth grade learning community. Responsibilities The Elementary School Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and high-functioning learning environment that supports the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. Core responsibilities include the following: · Design and deliver rigorous, differentiated instruction across all subject areas that meets the diverse learning needs of every student in the classroom · Implement the Responsive Classroom approach to build a positive community, establish clear expectations, and respond to student behavior in ways that preserve dignity, build self-regulation, and support learning · Apply the Science of Reading framework to literacy instruction, including structured approaches to phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension · Use current research and best practices in child development to inform instructional decisions, assessment practices, and the overall design of the classroom environment · Collaborate meaningfully with grade-level colleagues, specialists, support staff, and school leadership to plan instruction, analyze student data, and support individual student needs · Maintain ongoing, open, and respectful communication with families as genuine partners in their child's education · Contribute actively to a school culture that reflects the values of the Raider Profile, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and community engagement · Participate in professional development, grade-level meetings, and school-wide initiatives with a growth mindset and a spirit of shared ownership · Support the social-emotional learning and wellbeing of every student through intentional classroom practices, proactive relationship-building, and responsive problem solving · Use formative and summative assessment data thoughtfully to guide instruction and communicate student progress clearly and honestly Qualifications · New York State certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) or Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) required; dual certification a plus · Experience in an elementary school setting preferred · Deep knowledge of and commitment to the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy instruction · Familiarity with and belief in the Responsive Classroom approach to teaching and classroom community · Current understanding of child development research and how it applies to instructional practice · Genuine alignment with the Red Hook Central School District mission, vision, and the goals of the Raider Profile · Collaborative and creative spirit with the ability to work effectively as part of a professional learning community · Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues · Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices · Reflective practitioner who embraces feedback and pursues continuous professional growth
