Description: The Technical Director is responsible for managing the technical aspects of the Red Hook High School’s Performing Arts Center. Must have lighting, sound, and rigging experience.The Red Hook Central School District is seeking a passionate, innovative, and collaborative individual to operate as a full-time Technical Theater Director for the Red Hook High School’s Performing Arts Center.Successful candidates will have a background in technical theater, with an extensive knowledge of lighting, rigging, and sound design. The Technical Director must be present for all events in the Performing Arts Center, to either run the event or to act as support staff to ensure that rental groups follow safety protocols and see to it that the space is not damaged in any way.Essential Responsibilities:Operate, maintain, and safeguard the technical assets of the theater, including supervising the use of all lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of all stage facilitiesDetermine the necessary technical support for lighting, sound, staging, and special needs for events and performances presented at the facility in advance of production datesOperate in-house lighting and audiovisual equipmentManage performance/auditorium space for school and community eventsOversee technical, safety, and set-up needs, as well as the execution of all programs and activities in the auditoriumMonitor the condition of equipment and perform preventative maintenanceDevelop a replacement and upgrade schedule for tools and equipment, and arrange for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraintsCreate and maintain accurate inventories of technical supplies and equipmentDevelop and enforce practices that ensure safe, efficient, and effective operations of all theater facilitiesResponsible for developing and implementing a plan for future growth Skills and Abilities:5+ years of experience with theatrical rigging systemsStrong knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines within theatrical environmentsStrong understanding of theatrical lighting, rigging, and soundUnderstanding of theatrical yearly maintenance protocolProblem solving/analysis skills; good decision-making skillsGood time management skills; ability to maintain a flexible schedule, which may include irregular and extended working hoursExperience with lighting control systemsCustomer service orientation with the ability to establish and maintain a courteous rapport with facility users, the community, patrons, volunteers, and co-workersHigh level of responsibility and accountabilityAbility to pivot during times of stress and deadlinesGrowth mindset with an eagerness to continuously improve
