POSITION: Network AdministratorTERMS: Full-time 12-monthsSALARY: Management Confidential based on experienceREPORTS TO: Director of TechnologyQUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of computing, data processing, data communications, and software applications.Knowledge of voice, video and multimedia technologies and their applications.Knowledge of communication networks and information management systems.Associate Degree in Computer Science or similar field or at least 2 years computer and networking experience.PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assists in the implementation of an Educational Technology Plan for Rensselaer City Schools. Responsible for activities which include operation, installation and maintenance for all data technologies used by the district to support teaching, learning and district business activities.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Under the direction of the Director of Technology, implements the District Educational Technology Plan to guide district action in the effective implementation of: communication networks; hardware, software, and training standards; instructional technology; district administrative systems and technology supportMaintain all local and cloud printing services to all staff and students.Provides and maintains security within the network.Assists the Director of Technology in providing technology training for District Staff.Installs, operates and maintains the district's wired and wireless Local Area Networks (LAN's) and Wide Area Network (WAN), the district's hardware and software technical support needs, helps maintains an inventory of district hardware, software, and technology purchases, and supports the use of electronic mail and information resources such as the Internet.Attends meetings of the District Technology Committee.Troubleshoot workstation, printer and educational technology problems. Maintain an accurate record of issues and their resolution in the districts help desk software. Informs the Director of Technology of the status of all non-operational educational technology hardware and software.Maintain user databases, controls security and access to district information systemsPerform system backup on regular schedule.Does related duties as required.
