RCS is looking for a dynamic and energetic Social Worker to fill a yearlong long-term leave of absence starting immediately and going through the end of the school in June 2025. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting the social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of students that are proven barriers to student learning. Candidates should use their expertise to provide services to improve academic and behavioral outcomes, promote a positive school climate, and provide effective and vital student support services by maximizing school-based and community resources.Responsibilities for this position include:• Addressing the social and psychological issues that can block academic progress through counseling, crisis intervention and prevention programs;• Implementing appropriate school intervention and prevention programs through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) approach in response to demonstrated needs, which may include but not be limited to crisis intervention, conflict resolution, violence prevention, substance abuse prevention, child abuse prevention, positive self-image building, social skills and character education via consultation and/or individual, group and/or family counseling or classroom lessons;• Offering classroom management strategies and professional development programs to teachers to enhance their knowledge of social/emotional and behavioral needs to generate positive results in academics;• Utilizing family strengths and structures to enable families to function in ways that support their children’s education and well-being;• Incorporating diversity issues to plan for the unique educational needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations; • Forming collaborative relationships with community agencies and practitioners to address needs of student learners; • Providing resources and information pertaining to community services/agencies and making referrals to appropriate agencies.Qualified applicants must have NYS School Social Work certification.
