JOB DESCRIPTION:1. Oversees the establishment of routes to be followed and preparation of time schedules for buses for public and non-public pupils in the school districts.2. Supervises services, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of school district vehicles and ensures vehicles meet all accepted safety standards and requirements.3. Prepares periodic reports which include routine data information, milage usage, bus utilization, repair costs, inspections, and employee payroll.4. Recommends appointed and dismissal of transportation employees and sets standards of performance.5. May participate on negotiation committee and handle formal grievances from transportation employees.6. Performs a wide variety of tasks as may be assigned by the administration including driving a school bus.7. On call during off working hours for emergency situations and building checks.QUALIFICATIONS:1. Thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology, and accident precautions of one or more of the mechanical or construction trades.2. Thorough knowledge of standard transportation methods and the operation of busses.3. Hold or be eligible for a New York State Class B Commercial Driver’s License with “S,” “P,” and “Air Brakes” Endorsements.4. Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment.OR5. Five (5) years of experience in the operation of multi-passenger vehicles or the dispatching of motor equipmentOR6.
