Position Title: Elementary Art Teacher (PreK-6)/Enrichment TeacherDistrict: Quogue UFSDSchool: The Quogue SchoolJob Type: Full-Time, ProbationaryStart Date: July 11, 2025Application Deadline: July 11, 2025Position OverviewThe Quogue Union Free School District seeks a dynamic, student-centered Elementary Art and Enrichment Teacher to cultivate creativity, curiosity, and artistic expression in students from Pre-K through Grade 6. The successful candidate will design and implement a robust, standards-aligned curriculum that integrates the New York State Learning Standards for the Visual Arts and Media Arts, encouraging students to explore diverse media, develop technical and conceptual art skills, and connect visual expression to cultural, historical, and contemporary contexts.This position is grounded in the mission of the Quogue School Art Department, which is: To cultivate a sense of creative identity and community through a rich, inclusive visual arts education. The program introduces students to diverse global art traditions and historical movements, helping them connect past and present artistic expressions to their own lives and cultures.Through hands-on exploration, students develop visual literacy, celebrate individual and collective voices, and gain respect for the role of art in shaping human experiences. By engaging in collaborative projects and school-wide exhibitions, students grow as artists and citizens who value creativity as a powerful tool for communication and connection.The ideal candidate will not only deliver high-quality instruction in visual and media arts but also contribute to interdisciplinary enrichment initiatives that enhance academic and social-emotional development across the elementary school experience.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a school-wide art program aligned with district and state standards.Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art instruction aligned with NYSED Visual Arts and Media Arts Standards.Introduce students to a variety of artistic media and techniques, including the use of traditional and digital tools.Incorporate art history and global cultural perspectives into classroom lessons and enrichment projects.Encourage student voice and self-expression through reflective and collaborative practices.Plan and facilitate school-wide art exhibitions and co-curricular enrichment experiences.Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to support interdisciplinary learning.Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment that values creativity, risk-taking, and exploration.Communicate regularly with families and participate in school events and professional development.Skills and AttributesStrong understanding of NYSED Learning Standards for the ArtsAbility to design inclusive, culturally responsive, and student-centered lessonsPassion for arts integration and whole-child learningCollaborative, reflective, and growth-oriented professional mindsetExcellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skillsQualificationsRequired:Valid New York State Certification in Visual Arts.Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field.Deep understanding of evidence-based instructional practices.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders.Strong presentation skills.Passion for instilling an appreciation of art and learning in students.Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.Preferred:Additional certification(s) in Elementary and/or Special EducationProficiency in both traditional and digital media artsStrong knowledge of art history and its integration into the elementary curriculumBenefits:Competitive salary commensurate with experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Professional development opportunities.Supportive and collaborative work environment.
