The Literacy Coordinator will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of acomprehensive literacy program to support students and teachers in achieving excellence in reading andwriting. This role focuses on improving literacy outcomes, building teacher capacity, and fostering a love forreading among students.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development and ImplementationDevelop and implement a school-wide literacy plan aligned with district and state standards.Identify and provide access to research-based instructional resources, tools, and practices.Collaborate with school leadership to set measurable literacy goals.Coordinate the summer intervention program.Professional Development and LeadershipProvide coaching and mentoring to teachers to enhance instructional practices in literacy.Plan and deliver professional development sessions focused on literacy strategies and differentiation.Support teachers in the analysis of assessment data to drive instruction and interventions.Lead professional development sessions focused on literacy instruction and intervention strategies.Stay current on best practices in literacy education and share this knowledge with staff.Advocate for a school-wide culture of literacy by organizing activities such as reading nights, book clubs, or author visits.Student SupportProvide individualized and small-group instruction to students who require additional reading support.Collaborate with teachers to design and implement targeted interventions for students who need additional support.Monitor student progress through assessments and adjust strategies as needed.Facilitate school-wide initiatives to promote a culture of reading, such as book fairs, reading challenges, and author visits.Family EngagementWork with families to support literacy development at home.Provide resources, workshops, and guidance to help parents assist their children in becoming confident readers.Collaboration and CommunicationWork closely with parents, staff, and community partners to support literacy initiatives.Serve as a resource for teachers and families regarding literacy materials and strategies.Coordinate with special education and ENL staff to ensure all students’ literacy needs are met.Assessment and Data ManagementAssist in administering school-wide literacy assessments and interpreting results.Use data to identify trends, inform decisions, and create action plans for continuous improvement.Maintain accurate records and reports of literacy programs and progress.Qualifications:Valid certification: Reading Teacher (dual certification preferred)Experience working with students in an elementary setting (PK-6) preferred.Deep understanding of evidence-based literacy practices.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders.Proficiency in analyzing and using data to improve student outcomes.Strong presentation skills.Passion for instilling a love of reading and learning in students.Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.Benefits:Competitive salary commensurate with experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Professional development opportunities.Supportive and collaborative work environment.
