This position is responsible for the oversight of the Health and Safety Service which provides a multitude of safety services to the BOCES and school districts both inside and outside of our regions.Duties/ Responsibilities:Maintains a comprehensive health, safety, and risk management program for the BOCES and schools in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.Extensive knowledge of NYS Fire Code and prevention; NYS Education Department regulations, including current school safety standards and best practices ; hazardous materials management; related environmental regulations; workplace hazards and mitigation strategies; accident investigation; OSHA safety standards and related plansActs as the liaison with Federal, State, local and private agencies on health and safety mattersEstablishes cooperative working relationships with participating school districts and other agenciesEnsures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rulesAbility to develop and conduct health and safety procedure training programsConducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills with attention to detailStrong supervisory, leadership, and vision qualities are a mustMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER;a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in occupational safety and health programming or related field;ORb) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an Associate's degree and four years experience as described in (a) above;ORc) Eight years of experience as described in (a).For more information on Questar III BOCES and our programs, please visit www.questar.org.Columbia County Civil Service residency requirements will apply (must be a resident of Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia, Greene, Ulster or Dutchess County at time of hire)
