Immediate Opening - Questar III BOCES is seeking a full-time instructor for our new Electrical Trades Career and Technical Education (CTE) program located at The Robert H. Gibson Technical School in Troy, NY. The program will be starting with the new 24-25 school year and the position will follow the standard 10-month school calendar.Our Electrical Trades program is designed to be completed over 2 years (high school juniors and seniors) and equip students with the technical skills and knowledge necessary for a career in electrical work. Students delve into the fundamentals of electrical principles and engage in advanced techniques through hands-on and classroom instruction. Students will receive an in-depth understanding of the electrical trades, including modern green energy solutions. This program will cover the essentials of residential, industrial, and commercial work, ensuring students are well-prepared to enter this diverse and in-demand field.Candidates must possess, or be willing to pursue, a NYS career and technical teacher certification in Electrical grades 7-12. Work experience (two years with an associate degree and four years without) in electrical trade areas will qualify an applicant to pursue NYS certification through the non-traditional Transitional A teacher certification pathway. Questar will assist in this process and pay for necessary college credits leading to initial certification.This position requires that the applicant to have in-depth, comprehensive, and appropriate work experience in the installation, maintenance, identification and repair/replacement of electrical wiring and related electrical equipment in commercial and/or residential buildings (e.g., transformers and circuit breakers, lighting, and supply and distribution systems). Experience may include, but is not limited to, using trade-related blueprints, plans, and technical diagrams to install, maintain and test electrical wiring and controls, motors, and other types of electrical equipment, as well as the installation of residential and commercial photovoltaic (solar power) systems.Interested candidates should apply via OLAS or by emailing a resume with cover letter to employment@questar.org.
