The Questar III BOCES Health and Safety department has an immediate opening for a dynamic individual to join our team as a School Health & Safety Officer in our Castleton, NY office. Questar III BOCES is an educational cooperative providing services to school districts in Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene counties. This position works exclusively with school districts in developing, implementing, and coordinating safety compliance programs in accordance with federal, state, and local authorities. Position will also provide on-site support to school district faculty and staff through reviews, trainings, and inspections. Qualified applicants should have experience in occupational safety and related training programs, knowledge of current compliance safety regulations, experience conducting safety audits, and experience in preparing related reports. Preferred candidates will also have additional experience in school safety, emergency management and code enforcement. Applicants must be self-directed and able to work in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also a must.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (On or before the last filing date): Either:(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college with an associate degree in engineering technology, construction technology, industrial safety technology, fire science technology, occupational safety or related field and two years of experience in building construction or inspection which shall have involved responsibility for the administration, training, coordination or enforcement of job safety regulations; or(B) Graduation from high school and four (4) years of experience as outlined in (A) above; or(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.PLEASE NOTE: Columbia County Civil Service residency requirements will apply.Interested applicants should apply via OLAS application - or - send your resume and letter of interest to employment@questar.org.
