Beginning Immediately - Questar III BOCES is seeking a full-time instructor for our HVAC Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The vacancy is located at our Donald R. Kline Technical School campus in Hudson, NY.The HVAC program is a two-year program for high school students and the position will instruct and supervise students based on a NYS approved curriculum, which provides broad exposure to the operation, standards, and current practices in the field of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. In this two-year program students will learn design, installation and repair of HVAC systems and emerging technologies including solar and geothermal. Students receive extensive training in home energy efficiency and have the opportunity to obtain 10-Hour OSHA Safety Training, EPA section 608 refrigerant handling certification and Universal R-410A Safety training and certification. Students learn and have hands-on practice with a variety of HVAC tools and techniques. Students work with gas furnaces, boilers, air conditioning units, soldering, refrigerant handling, reading schematics, and using different HVAC tools.Successful candidates will actively engage and prepare students to succeed in the profession of HVAC. Candidates must possess, or be willing to pursue, a NYS teaching certification in HVAC. Applicable work experience will qualify an applicant to pursue NYS certification through the non-traditional Transitional A teacher pathway (advanced degrees are not required).
