Questar III BOCES announces a part-time, stipend based, Virtual Science Teacher position to serve students in our Virtual Learning Academy (VLA). The Questar III VLA is an innovative synchronous online instructional program that supports our regional school district students in a remote learning environment. All NYS Certified 7-12 Science teachers are welcome to apply.Teacher Responsibilities include:Promote a positive learning environment that encourages students to actively engage in their learning.Ensure content and assignments are aligned with the New York State Learning Standards/Assessments and meet student needs.Provide substantive interaction with students using flexible, individualized, and best practice online instruction.Communicate goals for the course and discuss changes or additional goals with each student as needed throughout the course.One-hour video class sessions will be scheduled twice per week. Additional video sessions may be scheduled at the teacher’s discretion.Teacher Benefits:Participate in a unique educational opportunity.Maintain a flexible schedule.Work from almost any location.Training and support provided.Supplement income and have fun at the same time.Limited class size.Required Minimum Qualifications:Appropriate NYS Certification required.Compensation:A stipend of $3,250 for a full year, 1 credit course (distributed quarterly), and $1,625 for half year, 1/2 credit course (distributed quarterly). This will be provided upon the execution of a signed online learning specialist agreement, per course.A stipend of $100 will be provided per student for an advisory period . Advisory is a time when assigned teachers connect with students to ensure students can access their content and courses as well as provide support for student academic needs. The advisory teacher will help connect the student with appropriate supports to help them be successful and work in conjunction with the VLA administrator and / or guidance counselor.Questar III prefers an online application.
