Starting Immediately - Questar III BOCES has an immediate vacancy for a full-time Internal Auditor (Civil Service Title: Accountant) position within our Internal Audit service based out of our Central Office in Castleton, NY. This position will work with various school districts throughout NYS performing all functions associated with the Questar III internal audit service. Typical duties include the following:Prepare annual risk assessmentsInterview process owners to understand current state systems, processes, and/or controls and assess risk with minimal oversight and supervisionExecute comprehensive audits in various operational and financial areas of the school districtEvaluate design and operating effectiveness of in-scope audit areas, including efficiency, effectiveness, mitigating controls, and procedures to remediate gapsPrepare audit workpapers that evidence completion of the audit, and that forms an adequate basis for the audit reportParticipate in audit planning, progress, and wrap-up meetingsReview accounting and operational methodologiesRecommend corrective actions/business resolutions, as appropriatePreparation of reports which analyze significant risk assessment findings, recommend changes for strengthening internal controls and reducing identified risks, and specify time frames for implementation of such recommendationsPresent draft audit reports to governing boardsOvernight Travel will be required (10 weeks out of the year)Minimum Qualifications for Accountant (as outlined by Columbia County Civil Service):Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either;A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting ORB) Graduation from a regionally accredited NYS registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in economics, finance or business administration, or related field with a minimum of 18 semester credit hours in accounting PLUS two (2) years of experience in accounting.
